A Meaningful Start to the Week
There’s something really special about Monday mornings at UCB. Each week at 11 a.m., our whole team gathers together. It’s a chance to reconnect, see familiar faces, and share the good things that happened in the week before. We also take time to lift up prayer requests, inviting God into the week ahead as we continue serving listeners across Canada.
Sharing What’s on Our Hearts
One of the most meaningful parts of these meetings is hearing a devotional from a member of our team. While being in the spotlight can feel a little intimidating, there’s always a sense of gratitude for what’s shared. Each person brings something thoughtful and personal, often leaving us with something to carry into the week.
Believing in Christ or Following Christ?
This past Monday, John opened with a simple but powerful thought:
You can believe in Christ and remain unchanged, but you cannot follow Christ and remain unchanged.
That idea stayed with me. It gently invites reflection—what does it really mean to follow Christ, not just believe?
A Faith That Leads to Change
John also shared some thoughts from theologian John Piper:
“If your faith in Christ leaves you unchanged, you don’t have saving faith. Obedience—not perfection, but a new direction of thought and affections and behavior—is the fruit that shows that your faith is alive.”
At first, that can feel like a lot to take in, especially if you’re newer in your faith journey. But there’s encouragement here too. Change doesn’t mean perfection; it simply means movement, like a shift toward living out your faith daily in small, meaningful ways.
Faith That Grows in Everyday Life
Faith isn’t meant to remain an idea. It’s meant to grow and become visible in how we live and respond to life each day. Scripture reminds us of this living faith:
“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” (James 2:17)
“We too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4)
Faith isn’t meant to stand still. It’s meant to grow and take shape in how we live.
Small Steps Back to God
It’s easy to drift into routine and distraction. Life gets busy, and sometimes our connection with God quietly slips into the background. But even small steps back toward Him matter. If you’ve ever wondered how to grow closer to God, it often begins with simple, intentional choices to spend time in His presence.
Maybe today, instead of reaching for your phone to scroll, you take a moment to pause and open The Word For You Today on the UCB Radio app. Even a few quiet minutes can help refocus your heart and draw you closer to Him.
A Gentle Reminder
As John reminded us in his devotional, there’s something deeply comforting in knowing that this life isn’t all there is. There’s more—something lasting and eternal.
Thank you, John, for sharing so openly with us. It’s a gift to be part of a team that genuinely cares, supports one another, and seeks to serve with purpose. It truly is good to be reminded that there’s more to life than just this life.
