When You’re Feeling Under The Weather: Finding Comfort in the Little Things
by Kathy

We’ve all been there. That moment you wake up, and something just feels off. Maybe it’s the sniffles that started last night, the sore throat you hoped was just dryness, or the body aches and weariness that says, “Today’s going to be slow.”
With the never-ending to-do list—there’s rarely a “good” time to be sick. But maybe, just maybe, feeling under the weather can be an unexpected reminder to pause.
The Simple Gifts of Care
When your body says stop, it’s not failure. It’s an invitation. God designed rest for a reason. Even Jesus withdrew to quiet places to pray (Luke 5:16). Sometimes our souls and bodies need that same stillness.
What helps when you’re feeling under the weather?
Maybe it’s that tried-and-true bowl of chicken noodle soup—the one your mom used to make. Or the call from Mom, full of warmth and “Did you try honey and lemon?” advice. Maybe it’s a text from your best friend that says, “Don’t worry about anything today. Just rest.”
And maybe, it’s a simple whispered prayer:
“Lord, I’m tired. Please help me slow down. Heal me, and remind me that I don’t have to do it all.”
The Power of Prayer and Presence
When we’re weak, God’s strength shows up in powerful ways. It might come through the kindness of others, or through the peace that comes from prayer when we hand over our worries.
Feeling crummy has a way of stripping life down to what really matters. This is when love, grace and connection shine. And sometimes, that quiet day on the couch with tissues, tea, and your favorite worship playlist becomes exactly what your heart needed.
Healing, One Cozy Step at a Time
So the next time you feel under the weather, lean into it. Make some soup, wrap up in that fuzzy blanket, call someone who loves you, and talk to God. Healing doesn’t always happen in a hurry, but He meets us right where we are—even in the sniffles.
Take it as His gentle reminder: rest is holy, and you are loved. We hope you're feeling better soon!
