Phil Wickham’s song Sunday is Coming resonates deeply with the heart of UCB Radio, reminding us of the hope that we find in Jesus. In the midst of the everyday challenges we face, his message offers a quiet strength and a joy that lifts us up to Him. We were truly honored to sit down with Phil and talk about his faith, music, and life, and he shared some beautiful and encouraging words with us:

“When I think through my songs, there are several that pop into my mind when I think of how it loudly and proudly raises the banner of Jesus and specifically our hope in him. But the one that comes to mind right now is called Sunday is Coming.”

Watch the video for Sunday's Coming:

Phil continues to say:

“What a crazy thing that we can call the day when creation put to death the Creator that loves them. We call it Good Friday, right? But how in the world can we call literally the darkest day in human history good? We can call it good because we know that Sunday came.”

In that song, the line “Friday is good because Sunday is coming” really speaks to this powerful truth.

Phil ties this sentiment into our own daily struggles:

“But we go through our own despair, right? We go through our tough times, our own Friday’s when we’re going through pain. And I know a lot of you...in some way...you’re in a Friday right now, you’re in pain, you’re in sorrow or you’re in a Saturday [where] you’re questioning steps [that] took you God:

I thought you were in this God?
Where are you and all this at you promised us?
[Why am] I’m not seeing it?

“I want to encourage you all that Jesus is the God of the Sunday, like Sunday’s always coming in Jesus. You know what ...it’s not always our timing that we’re asking for. But it’s not a matter of if. It’s a matter of when Jesus will come through a full healing, full resurrection, full glory, full life.”

Phil Wickham’s words remind us that no matter how dark our Fridays may seem, the hope of Sunday is always on the horizon. With Jesus, there is always hope, healing, and the promise of new life. We pray that these words bring comfort and strength to your heart today, knowing that His love and light are never far away.
