Change can be challenging for many of us and I’ve come to realize I’m one of those people. In my younger years, I welcomed new seasons more freely. But as time has gone on, I’ve noticed change seems to linger longer in my heart. Decisions don’t come as easily as they once did. And even when I finally do make a choice, doubts tend to creep in afterward. That inner back-and-forth can be exhausting and often fuels my anxiety more than I’d like to admit.
I caught a segment on UCB Radio yesterday morning where Frank Reed shared something that gave me pause:
“God sees things we don’t even when we can’t. Trust that He is always working, even behind the scenes.”
There was something comforting in that. A quiet reminder that maybe we don’t have to have everything figured out all at once.
I went for a walk with a friend during lunch and opened up to her about how I’ve been struggling with this. I asked if she had any advice, and her response was simple and enlightening: “I try to live one day at a time, because life shifts in an instant.” She reminded me how quickly our idea of “normal” can change sometimes overnight.
Her words stayed with me. They echoed something deeper a truth often found in Scripture. God knows how unpredictable life can be, and He doesn’t leave us without guidance or comfort.
In Isaiah 43:19, we’re reminded to stay open to what God is doing:
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
Jeremiah 29:11 offers hope and assurance during times of change, suggesting God is working for good and has plans for a positive future. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The verse is not a promise of escaping hardship or instant worldly success but rather a reassurance of God’s presence and purpose even in difficult times.
God gives us strength during difficult times! Hallelujah!
So, if you’re walking through a season of uncertainty or transition, know this: it’s okay to find change hard. You’re not alone in that. But there is hope even in the unfamiliar. God is faithful. He sees the whole picture and walks with us through every step of the unknown.
I’m learning to not walk with emotion, but with purpose through faith. Take heart. One day at a time, there’s grace enough for the journey slow and steady.
Let’s do this together.
