A Time for Everything
Last week, while driving to work, I caught myself thinking, “I wish I had just ten extra minutes this morning.” I was running late...

A few weeks ago I shared with you about how we moved and decluttered our space during the process. What I didn’t mention was that we lost a few items along the way. One of them was our favorite tea kettle. Did we leave it at the old house? We’re still not sure! Another thing we lost was a cute little white planter filled with festive colored impatiens. I almost forgot all about it until I went back to work after my two week vacation. A colleague of mine came up to my desk with a very sad looking dried up plant - found it! lol
To help with our move, we asked a couple of kindhearted teenagers—coworkers’ sons—to lend a hand. For the final load, one of the boys kindly offered to take the plants from our back deck in his car. The sad looking plant my colleague was holding in front of me was the one that was accidentally left in his car, all by itself for several hot summer days. Oops!
At first I thought I should throw it away, but it was a lovely little plant that was full of life at one time. I have worked so hard caring for it for a couple of months already - why give up now when it needs me the most?
I quickly took action and proceeded to take off all of the dead blooms and water it well. After a week or so of much-needed attention it started to come back to life. I trimmed the entire plant back once it was fully green again and after some more tender loving care, new leaves and blooms started to emerge! It’s now a thriving little plant once again. All it needed was a little love.
My favorite verse in the Bible is from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV) where it says:
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease;
where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
This is the kind of love that we must not abuse or take for granted. It is the purest form of love given freely to us by God himself. What a blessing it is to have this comfort surround us every day.
I’m only in the beginning of my journey with Jesus, and I’ve invited Him into my life wholeheartedly. Yet, this doesn’t mean that I understand His presence in my life. So, I decided to start reading more about God’s purpose. Through my favorite daily devotional The Word For You Today, I’ve learned that God is a loving God and that He wants us to experience peace and abundant life.

I’ve been working at UCB Radio over a year now and I’ve heard so many testimonies from people about how their lives have been saved by His love. Our listeners have found hope—in Jesus. That’s why I love working here - we are helping fulfill God’s purpose of Peace and Life.
As James, a UCB Radio colleague kindly mentioned in his Devotional this morning “we can become immune to God’s faithfulness by walking away, but He is still there for us when we return to Him. Take a few minutes every day to talk with God - to connect with the Creator and He can speak to your heart.”
Like my little forgotten plant, we can wither when left unattended—our faith, relationships, even our hearts. But God never forgets us. When we feel dried up, His love restores and helps us bloom again.
If a plant can thrive with a little care, imagine how much more our souls can flourish with God’s love. Love is more than a feeling—it’s an action, a choice, a daily commitment.
Whether you’re in a season of growth or waiting, remember: love heals, restores, and never fails. Let’s nurture what matters most and share the love we’ve so freely received.
Sometimes all you need is a little love.
