Celebrating Growing Families

We’ve had a really special week here at UCB—it truly feels like a season of new beginnings. Not only are we preparing to launch a new radio station in Kelowna (88.1 FM), but there’s also some beautiful family news to celebrate.

We’re Having a Baby!

Several members of our extended team are expecting little ones. Joseph and his wife Elena are preparing to welcome twins the end of May, while Jake and Richard’s families are growing with their second and third children in October. And in the midst of it all, John from our Business Engagement team is excitedly awaiting his sixth grandchild.

It’s a meaningful and joy-filled time, and we’re so grateful to celebrate alongside them. With so much joyful news, it feels like the perfect moment to pause and reflect on all things baby—especially supporting new and expecting moms in this special season.

Resources for Expecting Moms

Welcoming a baby is both a beautiful and overwhelming experience. It often comes with excitement, uncertainty, and a wide range of emotions. The good news is—you don’t have to walk this journey alone.

Alongside the support of family and friends, connecting with others can make a big difference. Consider reaching out to a local church, joining a moms group, or exploring trusted online resources for expecting moms. These communities can offer encouragement, practical advice, and reassurance when you need it most.

Inspired Motherhood: Faith-Based Encouragement for Moms

If you’re looking for a peaceful, faith-centered resource, Inspired Motherhood is a wonderful place to start. Created by author and Christian speaker Lauren Gaines, the site offers encouragement for moms navigating the highs and lows of parenting.

As Lauren shares, motherhood didn’t come without challenges:
“I wanted to be a mother for as long as I could remember. But soon after our first child was born, I couldn’t believe how drained I felt.”

Through that difficult season, she found her way back to joy—and now shares that journey to help other moms do the same.

Honest Conversations About Motherhood

Not every new mom experiences childbirth the same way. Each journey is beautifully unique, filled with its own joys, challenges, and emotions. Giving yourself grace in this season is so important—there’s no single “perfect” way to step into motherhood.

That’s why resources like Inspired Motherhood can be so helpful. The blog thoughtfully covers a variety of topics that meet moms right where they are, offering encouragement and practical support through every stage, including:

  • Motherhood
  • Babies and kids
  • Activities
  • Faith
  • Social and emotional wellness

It’s a gentle, supportive space for moms looking for both real-life insight and faith-based encouragement along the way.

Motherhood Blogs

One powerful post, The Newborn Phase is Harder Than I Thought, shares a raw and honest perspective on early motherhood. Lauren reminds moms that it’s okay to have hard days—and that God’s love remains constant through it all.

She writes about the importance of holding onto God’s promises, even in the most challenging moments, and encourages moms to remember the incredible gift and purpose found in raising children in faith.

Parenting Podcasts for Encouragement on the Go

If you prefer listening instead of reading, parenting podcasts are a great way to stay encouraged throughout your day. Whether you’re doing chores, going for a walk, or commuting, they offer practical, faith-based support right when you need it.

The Focus on the Family Parenting Podcast, heard on UCB Radio, is a great option for both moms and dads. Each episode is short—about 8 to 15 minutes—making it easy to fit into your routine.

You’ll hear from trusted parenting voices who share faith-based insight for every stage, from caring for toddlers to navigating the teen years. It’s a thoughtful blend of Biblical wisdom and practical parenting advice to help you feel supported and more confident in your journey.

Welcome Baby

As we celebrate motherhood, family, and this season of new beginnings at UCB, it’s a beautiful reminder of the love, strength, and faith that moms bring into our lives every single day.

Here are some encouraging affirmations and Bible verses to support moms-to-be during this special season of life.

I am safe in God’s arms as I hold my baby in my own
“He will cover you with his feathers; you will take refuge under his wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield.” Psalms 91:4 CSB

I am doing important work
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepeared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV

I am capable of caring for my body and my baby
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV

Whether you’re expecting, supporting someone who is, or simply reflecting on your own journey, know that you are not alone. May this season be filled with encouragement, faith, and moments of peace as you step into all that lies ahead.
