As summer down and back-to-school season approaches we wanted to share an update from UCB Radio’s Hope Together - Send A Kid to Camp campaign.

Over the past two years, UCB Radio has received nearly 200 nominations for kids facing all kinds of challenges and walking through difficult seasons. These children were nominated by their friends, neighbours, parents and family members.

“It’s incredible to read the nominations and realize that these kids could get the opportunity to hear all about the Hope that is found in the Good News of Jesus” — Tyler Rody, Promotions Lead, Western Markets

Hope at Joy Bible Camp

Alayna was one of the children given the opportunity to attend Joy Bible Camp in Bancroft. Our hearts were full as we heard about her experience through this heartfelt letter from her mum:

Dear Joy Bible Camp Team and UCB Media,

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude for the beautiful experience you gave my daughter during her time at camp.

As a parent, there are few greater gifts than seeing your child come home with a little more light in their eyes, a little more confidence in their heart, and a deeper sense of who they are. My daughter came home with that light. She truly came out of her shell and opened her heart in a way that was so beautiful to witness. More importantly, she experienced something deeply spiritual and meaningful during her week at camp. I could see that something had touched her heart, and I am so grateful for the loving environment you created where she could grow in faith, make friendships, laugh, learn, and simply be herself.

I would also like to give a very special thank you to Nurse Sunny and Jello from Cabin 3 for the care, compassion, and kindness they showed my precious girl. Your patience and attentiveness meant so much to me as a parent. Thank you for making her feel safe, welcomed, cared for, and loved. The people who take the time to comfort and encourage our children often leave a mark on their hearts that lasts far beyond the week itself.

Sometimes a gift is measured not in dollars, but in the memories, moments, and changes it makes possible. Your sponsorship gave her a week filled with joy, faith, friendship, growth, and beautiful memories. For that, please know that your kindness has touched our family in a very meaningful way.

To everyone at Joy Bible Camp, and to UCB Radio, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You didn’t simply provide a place for Alayna to spend a week of summer—you helped create an experience that touched her spirit and helped her discover a little more of herself.

As I watched her come home with a renewed spirit and a more open heart, I was reminded of these beautiful words from Scripture:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:1

I am so grateful that Alayna was given the opportunity to experience a week filled with faith, love, friendship, and growth. Thank you for being part of what I believe was a very special chapter in God’s plan for her and for helping her discover hope, confidence, and joy in such a beautiful way.

With heartfelt gratitude and blessings,

We feel incredibly blessed to help provide deserving children with life-changing experiences like this. Through moments like these, UCB Radio’s mission to share hope in Jesus across Canada is coming to life—one child, one experience, and one heart at a time.
