Classic Canadian TV Shows With A Good Message
During lunch recently, the topic of television for young children came up in conversation, and it led us to ask what Canadian TV shows...

“What is this place?” I asked my husband in disgust.
“Acton,” he answered.
“Acton?” I responded, incredulously. “I NEVER want to live in Acton.”
Never say never. Because it will come to bite you in the behind.
Sure enough, my husband Jon and I ended up in the “ugly” town of Acton.
And you know what? Beautiful things happened in that ugly town. It was there that we met life-long friends. It was there that we lead worship. Went on mission trips. Were involved in a church that was incredibly community-oriented. Acton may have been ugly on the outset, but God saw it as a beautiful place to expand His Kingdom.
From Bethlehem to Belleville
Ironically, years later, I did not want to move to Belleville, Ontario. Once again, I had judged this city. It was too small, too this, too that, too, too, too.
But it is in this small, humble, blue-collar city, that God chose to do something beautiful. Not just in my life, but in the lives of so many others.
Twenty years ago, Belleville was chosen by God to be the city where a humble Christian Radio network would begin and spread across our country: UCB Radio.
Why Belleville? I mean, there’s nothing special about Belleville. It doesn’t have the culture of Montreal or the pizazz of Toronto. No, it’s another simple city with not a lot going for it.
But 20 years ago, God saw something special about Belleville. Just like 2000 years ago, He saw something special about Bethlehem--the little town where a spiritual revolution would begin through the birth of His Son.
And that Son—Jesus—is now being broadcast through the beautiful city of Belleville. “Belle,” which means “beautiful;” “ville,” which means “city or town.” It is literally called "beautiful city." To some, Belleville may be just another “ugly town,” but to God, it is a beautiful city where beautiful things are happening.
God Uses the Small and Humble
God uses the small. The humble. He doesn’t need an extravagant place to share his extravagant love.
And the same goes for you and me. It doesn’t matter if you’re not popular. Or gorgeous. Or charismatic. God has a reputation for using the “small” to do the “big.” He’s simply looking for the willing. People who are open to play a part in His plan to share His extravagant love to humble hearts.
A donation today will have a lasting impact in the lives of Canadians, as we share the hope of Jesus 24/7, touching lives and spreading positivity through UCB Radio.
