Mel Robbins' Let Them Theory

Have you heard about this phenomenon yet? It’s been dominating the pop culture landscape the past few months. Mel Robbins shared the Let Them Theory on social media and, according to her website “it went CRAZY VIRAL - with 15 million views and 11,000 comments”. What is it? It’s a popular mindset to shift your low confidence into higher gear.

Mel Robbins’ Let Them Theory

So, what is it? Here’s the Let Them Theory in one sentence:

According to her website, when you Let Them do whatever it is that they want to do, it creates more control [of your life] allowing emotional peace for you and a better relationship with the people in your life.

Learn the Let Them Theory and set yourself free from the exhausting cycle of trying to manage everything and everyone around you.

“Other people’s thoughts and opinions don’t determine your self worth” - Mel Robbins

How do we do this?

Let’s start with applying the principal. In Episode 252: How to Stop Caring What People Think of You.

Mel shares that we struggle with what other people think about us. It’s important to care about other peoples thoughts but care more about what you think. Learning to let other people have negative thoughts recognizes that you’ll never be able to control what other people think:

1. It’s not worth your time and energy.

2. Your value as a human being is not in what someone else thinks - it’s in what you think of yourself.

3. When you let other people think negative thoughts you are acknowledging the fear that you have because you are afraid that it’ll be negative.

I’m paraphrasing what Mel shares in her episode:

When you say “Let them” you’re allowing this fear without allowing it. You’re valuing your time and energy. The power is in me and what I think of myself, and I know myself so let them think their negative thoughts. As long as I conduct myself in a way that I’m proud, even if someone misunderstands me I know the truth. That’s where the power is.

“Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that in what they regard as evil you may be seen to be doing good deeds and may glorify God on the day of visitation.” - 1 Peter 2:12

The Bible and Pop Culture

It’s beautiful to see how timeless truths quietly echo through the noise of modern life. 1 Peter 2:12 encourages us to live with quiet integrity, even when we feel misunderstood—and that same spirit shines through in Mel Robbins’ Let Them Theory. When we let go of the need to be seen a certain way and simply live out what’s good and true, we create space for grace to move. Our actions, done with love and honesty, speak for themselves. And maybe, just maybe, that’s how light spreads—through ordinary moments that reflect something eternal, even in the most unexpected corners of culture.
