As we share our third and final UCB Radio Hope Together This Christmas miracle, we’re reminded that this season is about coming together when families need it most.
This Christmas, that family is Melissa and the Roy’s of Belleville.
Melissa lives with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a rare genetic kidney condition that has progressed to kidney failure. Every night, she undergoes dialysis—a demanding treatment that leaves her with very little energy during the day.
Eventually, Melissa had to stop working simply to manage daily life. As she waits for a kidney transplant, the uncertainty of her health affects every part of her family’s routine.
Melissa’s husband, Wallace, has been doing everything he can to support their family. He runs a small paralegal business and recently took on a second job in Kingston. Earlier this year, Wallace suffered a heart attack, adding another layer of stress and recovery to an already difficult season. Between health concerns and unpredictable income, stability has been hard to find.
Together, Melissa and Wallace are raising five boys—two biological sons who also have PKD, and three adopted sons. The Roy’s have had to quickly adapt to new medical routines and a quieter pace of life. While the boys remain positive and resilient, they’ve missed out on many experiences other kids enjoy, simply because their parents don’t always have the health or energy to provide them.
This Christmas, our community is stepping in. Watch Melissa’s Christmas miracle
Through Hope Together This Christmas, community supporters have rallied around the Roy family to ease financial pressure, offer stability, and remind them they are not alone. This miracle is about restoring hope, reducing stress, and giving this family room to breathe during a challenging season.
UCB Radio is deeply grateful for our incredible community and the love and kindness you continue to share. Your compassion has turned hope into action and created many meaningful Christmas blessings this season.
As we conclude this year’s Hope Together This Christmas miracles, we’re deeply grateful to everyone who gave and shared. Because of you, families like the Roy's can experience a Christmas filled with compassion, care, and renewed hope.
