Hope Together This Christmas

The Christmas season is often painted as joyful and bright, but for many, it carries a much heavier weight. While some celebrate with full hearts and busy homes, others are quietly walking through grief, loneliness, or uncertainty. Difficult seasons don’t pause for the holidays. In fact, Christmas can sometimes magnify feelings of sadness, sorrow, or isolation.

For some, these emotions are tied to family or job loss, illness, or broken relationships. For others, they surface more subtly through self-doubt, comparison, and the quiet belief that we’re somehow falling behind.

“We just want you to know that we hear you, we see you, there’s hope and that there are people who care.”

Each year through UCB Radio’s Hope Together This Christmas campaign we ask our listeners to nominate someone in need. Whether it’s a family facing hardships, a neighbour who always gives back, or an individual who has experienced a challenging year, we want to hear their stories and so we can bless their socks off.

Today, we are revealing Jamie’s miracle, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Jamie is the kind of person you can always root for. She is kind, compassionate, hardworking and selfless. But things have been very tough for Jamie after her husband passed away suddenly from a heart attack last year. Processing the grief and adjusting to life as a widow has been hard because losing her husband also meant dealing with an enormous amount of debt.

Jamie and her adult kids have been trying to pay things down, but they’ve run out of savings and now she is left with choosing between buying food or paying the bills. That’s when Jamie met Lisa at Christians Against Poverty. Jamie and Lisa are working together to get her out of debt, but things move slowly and changes with her job won’t take place until the spring. So Lisa nominated Jamie to receive a Christmas Miracle through UCB’s Hope Together This Christmas so she could get some relief and get through the next few months.

Tyler, our Community Promotions Specialist met Jamie, Lisa and her family at Christians Against Poverty for the special Christmas blessing.

In the midst of grief and uncertainty, Jamie’s story reminds us that hope can still find its way in. This Christmas, her miracle is more than financial relief—it’s a reminder that she is not alone, that her story matters, and that brighter days are ahead. Thank you to everyone who made this moment possible through Hope Together This Christmas. Together, we’re proving that even in the hardest seasons, love and kindness can shine the brightest. Stay tuned for the final reveal tomorrow!
